Eastern Connecticut Radio Academy puts YOU on the air!
An innovative approach to learning
At a regular broadcasting school your training would take place in a room setup with radio equipment. No real radio station. No real air-time. Just a microphone set up in a room broadcasting to no one. This however is not the case for students training at the Eastern Connecticut Radio Academy (ECRA)
Why ECRA?
ECRA students are getting on-air experience as part of their training at commercially licensed station WILI-FM in Willimantic, CT (Hitmusic-i98.3) While other broadcasting schools struggle and fail the Eastern Connecticut Radio Academy's future remains bright with this innovative approach to learning.
"Up until now there has never been a broadcasting school that has offered it's students the opportunity to earn real air time at a commercial radio station while training." says Mike Merlin, i-98.3's Program Director and ECRA founder. This is a tremendous advantage for those looking to work in radio broadcasting and can be the difference between interning at a radio station after you graduate or working on-air and getting paid at one."
Getting real on-air experience before you even apply for your first job is a huge advantage says recent graduate April Couilliard. "Cracking the misrophone in the i-98.3 FM studio for the first time was both exhilarating and nerve wracking, but knowing that I did not have to be perfect and was in training helped tremendously with my confidence and ability. In addition to being on the air I was able to produce commercials for the radio station as well. Because of the skills I developed while training I now work at the very station I trained at."
Now think about that. Real air-time at a commercial radio station WHILE YOU TRAIN, and at a fraction of the cost. At ECRA you'll pay thousands of dollars less while receiving superior hands on training. ECRA is approved by the Connecticut Department of Higher Education and can help you obtain financial aid.
